Climate Change Conference, Bangkok
FADE has participated at the United Nations organised Conference on Climate Change in Bangkok. This is the second such summit this year, and about the 5th in the series which began in 2007. Here it is hoped that those attending will finalise a report on how the world can mitigate rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions, a report that will be taken to the Copenhagen conference on Climate Change holding in December 2009 from 7th to the 18th. FADE, being represented by its founder, Dr. Newton Jibunoh is a party member representing Nigeria at the Conference. The Conference runs from September 28, 2009 to October 9, 2009.
Greening of Lagos
Lagos State Government's Greening of Lagos Programme has been progressing with much vigor than ever before. The Ministry of the Environment has come up with a strategy of involving individuals and bodies that have interests in the environment to prosecute its programmes. To this end FADE has been recruited to oversee and ensure the greening of 3 major highways in Lagos metropolis; Murtala Mohammed Way from Yaba to Oyingbo, Liverpool Road, Apapa and Point Road, Apapa. This project involves the planting of trees, flowers, and grassing of the road verges and shoulders.
FADE has hired workers and volunteers for this project which is well under-way and being supervised by Ceejay Jibunoh.
DESERT WARRIORS' INTERVIEWS
Desert Warriors
A reality TV show called Desert Warriors is gripping viewers in Nigeria and Niger as
50 candidates are put through their paces in the sands of the Sahara. 15 days and
nights of tent-living, gruelling endurance tests, and environmental challenges. The

The original desert warrior
Heading up the panel of judges for Desert Warrior is Dr Newton Jibunoh. Now in his
70s he's considered one of Nigeria's most influential environmentalists. For the
last 40 years he’s been trying to highlight the issues of climate change and human
impact on the desert in Africa but found his campaigning had little impact. But is
reality TV the best medium for his cause?
